The Opportunity
We have an excellent opportunity for a permanent Officer of the Watch to join us on board our dredger operating around the South Coast UK on a rotational 3 weeks on/3 weeks off shift pattern. The Officer of the Watch is responsible for keeping the safe navigational watch, carrying and/or assisting dredging operations, and the maintenance of deck items including safety equipment on board as required by the Master. As a third in command, you will be assisting the Master and the Chief Mate.
Who you are
- You’ll have experience working in a shipboard environment
- Self-motivated and ability to work without continual supervision
- The ability to maintain safe practices on board the vessel
- Excellent crisis management skills
- Strong time management skills
- To plan, conduct and oversee deck maintenance and Planned Maintenance Software (MX Suite)
- The ability to work with diverse (multilingual and multicultural) teams
- Ideally you’ll have some experience working on a dredger vessel, however this is not essential
- You will already hold a UK Certificate of Competency (CoC) or a UK CEC (minimum Officer of the Watch Unlimited - STCW II/1)
- A valid ENG1 or equivalent seafarer medical fitness certificate
- All valid STCW ancillary certificates/qualifications
