The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity to work at one of the most impressive quarry operations in Europe, supporting the HME team in maintaining critical production machinery. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, supporting both planned maintenance and reactive repairs, while developing your skills in a high-performing engineering environment operating 24/7.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assisting with the organisation and execution of HME maintenance and repair activities.
- Supporting the development of safe systems of work, including risk assessments and method statements.
- Helping prioritise and coordinate maintenance schedules in line with production requirements.
- Carrying out maintenance and repairs on heavy plant and equipment within the workshop.
- Supporting the team in fault finding, troubleshooting and breakdown response to minimise downtime.
- Ensuring all maintenance activities, defects and breakdowns are accurately recorded in management systems.
- Assisting with parts management, ensuring correct parts are ordered, tracked and recorded.
- Supporting inspections and ensuring reports are completed in line with company procedures.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the workshop and work areas.
- Working collaboratively with other departments across the Glensanda site.
- Supporting and learning from experienced team members to build your technical capability.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience in heavy plant maintenance, ideally including welding, cutting and fabrication.
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Maintenance (or equivalent practical experience).
- Basic understanding of plant electrical systems and repairs.
- Strong team working and communication skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to take initiative and learn quickly.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise tasks.
- IT literacy and familiarity with workshop or maintenance systems.
- A flexible approach to working within a 24/7 operation.
