The Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive Logistics Planner to join our team based at our Plymouth office. Working within a fast-paced, close-knit, and highly experienced team, you will play a crucial role in managing and organising the efficient delivery of Aggregates and Asphalt across Plymouth and the wider South West region. This is a dynamic role that requires a sharp mind, excellent communication skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in real-time.

As a Logistics Planner, your daily responsibilities will include:

  • Efficiently planning a high volume of both same-day and future deliveries to ensure maximum fleet utilisation and on-time performance.
  • Confidently calling clients to confirm anticipated delivery dates/times, managing expectations proactively, and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Liaising closely with internal production, sales, and site teams to anticipate potential bottlenecks and keep clients informed of any changes.
  • Ensuring haulage efficiency by strategically deploying resources. You will balance internal and external customer orders to benefit both the customer and the business.

To be successful in this role, you will bring a blend of logistics expertise and strong interpersonal skills:

  • Proven experience working in a fast-paced logistics, transport planning, or distribution environment (experience in construction materials, aggregates, or heavy industry is a distinct advantage).
  • Highly confident on the phone with a natural aptitude for customer service and the ability to negotiate effectively.
  • A strong geographical knowledge of Plymouth, Devon, Cornwall, and the wider South West road networks.
  • Exceptionally organised with the ability to remain calm under pressure, multitask, and make quick, logical decisions.
