The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a pivotal Environment Manager role at Holcim UK, based at the Cauldon Cement Plant on the edge of the Peak District. You will take ownership of environmental performance and community engagement for one of the UK’s key cement manufacturing sites, operating within a highly regulated, complex industrial setting. Working within heavy industry and closely aligned to senior leadership, you will be central to ensuring robust environmental compliance, shaping permit strategy, and leading continuous improvement across air, emissions, waste, and monitoring systems. This is a hands-on site-based role, offering significant visibility and influence in how the site delivers both regulatory excellence and trusted relationships with local stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading environmental compliance across a complex cement manufacturing site, including permit management, regulatory reporting, and ISO 14001 systems
- Acting as the key point of contact for environmental regulators and ensuring all reporting (emissions, waste, and compliance data) is accurate and timely
- Managing environmental permit variations, including new fuel approvals and process changes in collaboration with operational teams
- Building and maintaining trusted relationships with local community stakeholders, including leading community liaison activity
- Identifying environmental risks and driving improvement initiatives across emissions, monitoring, calibration, and site performance
Who You Are
- You have experience in environmental management, ideally within a heavy industrial, regulated, or process-led environment (e.g. cement, steel, energy-from-waste, chemicals, or similar)
- You are confident managing environmental permits, compliance frameworks, and regulatory reporting within a complex operational setting
- You understand industrial environmental monitoring requirements, including emissions testing, calibration, and associated assurance processes
- You can translate technical environmental data into clear, credible communication for regulators, internal stakeholders, and community groups
We are committed to building a diverse environment and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. You will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability or age.
