The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity to join Holcim at our High Roads Factory in Carnforth as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving a wide range of fixed plant, automated block-making equipment, and site infrastructure, supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality production. Working on a Monday to Friday shift rotation, Monday to Thursday 7-4 and Friday 7-2. Working closely with production teams and regional engineering support, this role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to contribute to continuous improvement within a safety-led, high-performing environment.
What you'll be doing
- Maintaining and fault-finding on automated block-making plant, fixed equipment, and site infrastructure.
- Carrying out electrical and mechanical planned preventative maintenance and responding effectively to breakdowns.
- Working collaboratively with production teams to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent output.
- Supporting continuous improvement by understanding plant operation and identifying opportunities to improve reliability and quality.
- Ensuring critical spares are available on site to minimise downtime.
- Maintaining ESMS documentation and operating in line with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards.
- Completing risk assessments, permits to work, and supervising contractors where required.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, ensuring work areas are clean, safe, and hazard-free.
- Updating site technical diagrams and ensuring electrical routines and inspections are completed consistently.
- Planning and delivering PPM tasks to support production targets.
- Reacting promptly to plant issues, liaising with production, maintenance, and OEM support as required.
- Identifying obsolete or out-of-specification equipment and planning upgrades or replacements.
What you'll bring
You will be a qualified, time-served electrician or electrical maintenance engineer with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, safety-focused mindset. You'll be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, with the ability to prioritise workload and respond effectively to breakdowns and operational challenges. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, good organisational ability, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement. Electrical experience is essential, with mechanical knowledge an advantage. Experience in industrial or manufacturing environments is beneficial, and additional certifications such as IPAF or IOSH would be advantageous but not essential.
Strong commitment to a zero-harm culture. Operate in line with company Health & Safety policies and Don't Walk On By principles. Ensure all work complies with site, legislative, and quality standards. Overtime available and paid at enhanced rates, including call-out payments.
