Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a National Environmental Permitting Manager to lead, shape, and deliver the Company’s environmental permitting strategy across waste, water, minerals, and other regulated activities. Sitting within the Land & Natural Resources team, this is a highly influential national role, providing expert leadership across existing assets and future development projects. You will act as the principal authority on environmental permitting, working closely with senior leaders, regulators, government bodies, and industry groups to ensure permits are secured, maintained, and aligned with long‑term business and sustainability objectives.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a national environmental permitting strategy aligned to business growth, sustainability commitments, and capital investment programmes
- Lead engagement with regulators, government departments, and political stakeholders, influencing policy and regulatory change to protect and advance the Company’s interests
- Oversee the securing, variation, negotiation, and maintenance of complex waste, water, and minerals permits, either directly or through specialist consultants
- Ensure strong governance, compliance assurance, and continuous improvement through effective permit management, risk mitigation, and knowledge sharing across the organisation
Qualifications
- Strong, demonstrable experience in environmental permitting, ideally within the waste, minerals, or heavy industrial sectors
- Solid understanding of environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, and policy development
- Confidence engaging and influencing regulators, government stakeholders, and senior internal leaders
- Organised, proactive, and able to manage complex, multi‑site priorities effectively
