This is a fantastic opportunity to begin your career as a Road Surfacing Apprentice, joining a team responsible for delivering high-quality surfacing and resurfacing work across a regional road network. Road Surfacing Operatives play a vital role in maintaining the country's infrastructure, and in this hands-on role you will help keep roads safe, durable and fit for the future.
You will be based across a region site, working outdoors as part of an experienced surfacing team who will support you as you learn how roads are planned, prepared, surfaced and finished. You will gain experience operating specialist machinery, preparing surfaces, laying asphalt, inspecting completed work and understanding the techniques that keep roads performing to the highest standards.
You will spend most of your time learning on the job, taking part in daily tasks and gradually building the confidence to operate tools, support machinery, follow technical drawings and contribute to the safe and productive running of the team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys practical work, being outdoors, working in a team and seeing a project come together from start to finish.
Your curiosity, willingness to get involved and ability to stay focused will help you progress quickly. You will gain real industry experience, a recognised qualification and the chance to build a long-term career in a growing sector.
