About the Role
We are looking for an experienced hands-on Engineering Manager to lead our Software Engineering team. This role will manage a team of Front/Backend Developers and Testers, ensuring the successful delivery of modern, scalable digital platforms and applications, as well as modernising legacy applications. The Engineering Manager will combine people leadership, technical oversight, and delivery management, helping to build a high-performing engineering team while supporting the continued modernisation of applications and services within our Microsoft Azure estate. The role will also play a key part in driving the adoption of Artificial Intelligence tooling within the software development lifecycle, including AI-assisted development tools, integration of AI capabilities within development environments, and the optimisation of engineering workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Developers and Testers
- Conduct monthly one-to-one meetings, performance reviews, and support with development/training planning
- Ensure a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture
- Day-to-Day
- Lead and facilitate stand-up sessions with Developers and Testers, prioritising workloads, setting priorities etc
- Mentor and support the team
- Own the end-to-end delivery of software initiatives within the function
- Work closely with IT Ops, Change Management, Cyber, Application Management and Data Teams as well as local markets
- Lead sprints and production deployments
- Co-ordinate, prioritise and allocate business tickets and requests to the team
- Technical Leadership
- Support the ongoing migration and modernisation of applications within Microsoft Azure
- Provide technical guidance and support across the Engineering Team
- Ensure solutions align with internal and industry standard, architectural standards and technology strategy
- Promote best practices across:

- Code Reviews and Quality Assurance
- Test Automation
- DevOps & CI/CD
Skills and Experience
Essential
- Proven experience managing Software Engineering teams
- Strong understanding of modern software development practices
- Strong experience with Microsoft technologies C# & .NET
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Strong cloud-native experience - Microsoft Azure
- Experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
Desirable
- Experience adopting AI-assisted development tools or AI-enabled engineering practices, preferably Claude
