Audio Designer – Mayday Files (Part‑time, 10h / wk, Remote possible)
Mayday Files is a new audio‑visual podcast that sits at the intersection of true crime, aviation and forensic science. The team is building a recognizable audio brand, and we need an audio designer to shape the sound from the first sketch to the final master.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop a podcast sound framework: intro, outro, transitions, stinger, atmosphere, and aviation‑specific sound design.
- Create a dedicated sound bed for the facts voice “Alex.”
- Post‑production for each episode (approx. 45–50 min, twice per month): editing, audio‑cleaning, noise reduction, mixing, and mastering for podcast platforms and video.
- Collaborate closely with host Thomas and host/storyteller Max to craft narrative dynamics, maintain a consistent “signature sound” across all episodes.
- Optionally provide creative audio snippets for social‑media teasers and teaser audio.
Qualifications
- Student or recent graduate in Audio Engineering, Media, Music, Film, Sound Design, Multimedia Art or related field.
- Proficient with at least one DAW (Reaper, Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, Ableton, etc.).
- Completed projects in podcast, audio‑script, music production or sound design.
- Strong sense of storytelling through sound, drama and true‑crime atmosphere; clear mixing and language clarity.
Nice to Have
- Interest in aviation, technology or true crime.
- Experience with multitrack mix (voice, music, FX).
- German: good enough to edit spoken language.
- English: understanding of basic terms – we plan mid‑term English episodes.
Employment & Framework
- Part‑time, student job (10h / wk).
- Remote, asynchronous work with fixed episode deadlines.
- 2 episodes/month (each 45–50 min) plus initial sound‑framework development.
- Start ASAP – initial setup, then ongoing collaboration.
- Compensation: per‑episode basis, negotiated based on experience and scope.
