The Editor is responsible for editing and post‑editing our technology client’s marketing communications, maintaining the highest possible editing standards. The ideal candidate for this role should be tech‑savvy, with a keen eye and exceptional attention to detail to ensure clarity and accuracy in all copy projects. They should be flexible, adaptable, and results‑driven, with the ability to work with stakeholders, internal and external partners, and project managers. You will be required to build strong working relationships with the in‑market and global teams to ensure delivery of linguistically and tonally perfect campaigns that will ensure the client’s products stand out in your market.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for providing in‑country editing, post‑editing, validation and proofreading of customer‑facing marketing content across digital, print and in‑store communications, with a focus on consistency with brand tone of voice.
- Review, edit and quality control the output produced by MT systems, ensuring that the translation is devoid of technical errors, focusing on meaning accuracy, correctness, fluency and style and adhering to language conventions.
- Work closely with in‑country team of writers and editors on a high volume of projects and deliver on time and to an excellent standard, often with short deadlines.
- Collaborate with all members of the editing and writing team to improve the quality of the copy.
- Leverage glossaries, TMs and style guides to ensure alignment with the brand’s tone of voice, ensuring clarity and accuracy of translations, and maintaining the highest possible standards.
- Help maintain the client’s brand tone of voice across all communications.
- Document and report common errors and challenges encountered during the post‑editing process to help improve overall quality of machine‑generated translations.
- Work with a wide range of translation software and AI‑driven tools.
Key Requirements
- Native speaker of Kazakh & Russian languages and fluent in English with familiarity with U.S. English style and usage.
- Proficient use of translation tools, language technology and machine‑translation processes.
- Demonstrable experience (2‑3 years+) in copy editing, translation, post‑editing or localisation of both marketing and technical materials, preferably for a global creative or consumer brand.
- Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, language conjugation, spelling, and capitalization.
- Exceptional editing and proofreading skills to ensure grammatical accuracy and language quality.
- Sensitivity to cultural nuances and context, ensuring translations are culturally appropriate.
- Nuanced understanding of language conventions, style and usage.
- Experience supporting the development and maintenance of style guides and glossaries.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a team member, performing effectively and efficiently under time pressure.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to focus and prioritise in a fast‑paced environment.
- Solid understanding of the creative development and production process.
- Flexibility and versatility as a team player to deal with time‑constrained schedules and adapt to changing situations.
