Oil Risk and Market Analyst (Regional Office) Trafigura Overview Founded in 1993, Trafigura is one of the largest physical commodities trading groups in the world.
Trafigura sources, stores, transports and delivers a range of raw materials, including oil and refined products, metals and minerals.
The trading business is supported by industrial and financial assets such as a 49.6 percent-owned global oil products storage and distribution company (Puma Energy), global terminals, warehousing and logistics operator (Impala Terminals), the Mining Group, a 50 percent-owned logistics and trading company (DT Group) and an asset management arm (Galena Asset Management).

Main Purpose Conduct risk analysis of trading profit and loss/exposure to serve as a key management control for all international and domestic oil trading strategies.
Produce and manage daily reports supporting this function, including delta changes, deal economics, price exposure, hedge requirements and ad‑hoc management reporting.
Key Responsibilities Use various platforms to capture data for reporting purposes.
Maintain data integrity in the system, ensuring accurate Pn L and exposure analysis.
Set up inception profit and loss (Pn L) with the commercial team and produce daily commentary on variances.
Verify basis risk and volumetric positions, implementing appropriate hedge and pricing actions.
Accurately allocate executions within the trading system.
Reconcile all Pn L estimates against final invoice values to finalize trading Pn L and meet statutory requirements.
Continuously review and upgrade processes and systems to improve reporting accuracy and timeliness.

Experience in position, exposure and commercial Pn L reporting is an added advantage.
Key Relationships and Department Overview The role collaborates with local and regional Trading, Operations, Finance, Accounting, Contracts, FX and Invoicing teams, as well as Deals Desk Global Teams and management.
The Deals Desk department is responsible for the Group’s Trading Pn L reporting and hedging requirements for both physical and paper positions, acting as an independent control function that analyses potential risk associated with new or current business activities.
It works closely with front, mid and back‑office teams to ensure accurate and representative reporting.
