We have a well-established global Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) team that supports the firm on a wide range of business development, marketing and client relationship management activities. The team is divided into key areas, including practice M&BD, clients and markets (sector M&BD, pitches and pursuits), corporate communications (public relations, brand, design, events, digital), and campaigns and projects. Regional M&BD teams in the Americas, Continental Europe, Asia and South Africa interact with this role. The position will be based in our London office and reports into the Manager who will frame, drive and execute the marketing strategy and support business development for the sector globally, as well as internal and external profile-raising initiatives. All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm; additional hours may be required. We are open to agile and flexible working patterns. Our approach to hybrid working allows up to 40% of time working from home and 60% in the office; please contact a member of the recruitment team to discuss further.
Responsibilities
- Marketing Campaigns and Profile Raising: work with the Energy Sector Head and Sector Team Leads to develop and implement sector goals, initiatives and growth strategies for key clients; manage working group operations for the Energy Sector teams including Power and Renewables, Oil and Gas, Nuclear and Disputes; contribute to integrated campaigns and thought leadership to raise internal and external profile; drive regional and global initiatives for the sector; assist with creation and publication of thought leadership and other publications; handle directory and award submissions; stay informed on trends that may impact the energy sector and energy transition to identify promotional opportunities; support the implementation of the business plans for the energy sector.
- Pitches and Business Development: cultivate a deep understanding of sector areas of expertise and client needs; manage, support and draft responses to RFPs and strategic pitch opportunities; evaluate sector strengths and conduct research on clients, competitors and trends to inform marketing plans, pitches, presentations and proposals; liaise with global Pitches and Pursuits team to provide input to energy-focused sector, practice or firmwide pitches; create and maintain standard targeted marketing materials including credentials documents and experience lists; provide support on other strategic business development and promotional initiatives; ensure client relationship management principles are adopted across the sector in conjunction with the Client Development team; identify cross-selling opportunities within existing sector and firm clients and work with BD team and attorneys to expand relationships; encourage full and effective use of the firm's CRM database.
- Events: identify and coordinate events for partners to support client and BD objectives; plan and manage marketing communications programs and events supporting sector BD plans, including flagship events across the energy sector and energy transition market, smaller seminars and receptions, mailing list creation, client alerts, event promotion, invitations, and vendor selection; plan internal sector meetings and retreats.
Qualifications & Training
- Relevant experience — ideally in a law firm or professional services environment with exposure to complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Experience in developing and supporting client development and new business development programs to build relationships and generate revenue.
- Experience in pitch and proposal development.
- Project and team management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Experience in InDesign, iPublish, and InterAction (or other CRM system) desirable.
- 7+ years of relevant experience preferred, preferably in a legal or similar professional services industry.
- Working knowledge of the energy industry and energy transition market desirable.
