Role Overview: Marketing and Business Development Manager – C&F, Banking & Loan Finance will work closely with the Corporate & Finance (C&F) Business Development team and the global Banking & Loan Finance partnership to drive the global strategy forward for the practice. The role supports client development and profile-raising initiatives in the UK and international markets to maximise revenue growth, elevate the firm’s profile and position within key markets, and coordinate people, knowledge and resources efficiently.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm (additional hours may be required). Flexible working patterns are considered, including up to 40% remote and up to 60% on‑site.
Key Responsibilities:
- M&BD Strategic Initiatives and Budget: Work with senior M&BD leaders and senior partners to deliver strategic initiatives in line with the group’s overall strategy; develop comprehensive budgets for the practice and actively manage them during the financial year.
- Client Targeting and Development: Client account management for key strategic priority clients; support the global Client Listening Programme; lead strategy around specific client opportunities; advise on business‑opportunity development and supporting materials; encourage effective use of CRM and experience‑management databases.
- Pitching: Create strategies for and manage responses to RFPs, customised pitches and business‑development presentations; develop standard credentials and off‑the‑shelf material regionally and globally; promote pitching best practice; prepare pitch teams, conduct post‑pitch reviews; maintain a structured M&BD knowledge base.
- Marketing Campaigns and Profile Raising: Deliver global banking & loan finance marketing programmes and campaigns to raise the practice’s profile; liaise with Events and Knowledge teams on UK and global events; ensure directory submissions meet high standards; collaborate with PR and Knowledge lawyers on thought‑leadership, sponsorships, awards and targeted events programmes.
- Internal Communication and Knowledge Sharing: Liaise with the internal communications and PR team, other M&BD managers and the Knowledge team to communicate best practice in new‑business pitches, business generation, thought leadership and client service.
- Wider BD Projects: Manage and contribute to Corporate & Finance group and M&BD projects in conjunction with senior leaders and the broader team.
Skills & Experience:
- Extensive relevant experience, preferably including a management role in the legal sector with exposure to banking and finance work.
- Solid experience in business planning, budgeting and ROI reporting.
- Strategic and commercial thinking.
- Excellent operational and project‑management skills.
- Experience in a partnership or equivalent professional services environment.
- Broad experience across the marketing mix with a strong background in client relationship management, pitches and targeting.
- Desired: post‑graduate management or marketing qualification such as an MBA, CIM or equivalent.
