Job Title IT Business Analyst.

Office Location London.

Department IT Business Solutions.

IT Business Analysis operates within the IT Business Solutions function.

The BA position provides the full range of BA disciplines for use by clients and projects.

The principle objective of this role is to help its clients improve the way they do business, through an intimate understanding of their goals and processes.

It reports to and acts in partnership with the Business Relationship Managers as a gateway for clients into the services provided by IT.

To achieve this, each BA has to understand the clients’ objectives, the solutions available, and the architectural goals of IT at large.

This is a global team and its members are located in more than one business site.

Working

Hours: 35 hours per week, 9:30am to 5:30pm but additional hours may be required.

We consider agile and flexible working patterns.

Our hybrid working approach allows for up to 40% of time working from home and 60% working in the office.

Role Overview

The IT Business Analyst elicits business requirements for information applications, data management and storage solutions; represents the client’s interests throughout the application lifecycle; and assists business users in analysing and improving their processes.

While many projects have custom deliverables, the role also provides a business analysis service; assisting for example with the delivery of third-party/cloud software services or commercial software products.

Key Responsibilities

Specific duties or responsibilities may be reviewed from time to time to reflect changes in personnel and management structure, staff location or services.

All members of the firm participate in our Responsible Business program.

  • Working with project stakeholders to elicit, document, agree and prioritise business requirements.
  • Communicating business requirements to product delivery specialists.
  • Working with users, Business Relationship Managers and Project Managers to develop business cases and benefits realisation plans.
  • Researching and sourcing, evaluating and selecting solutions that best fit business requirements.
  • Assisting business users in implementing and making best use of software solutions to ensure realisation of benefits.
  • Developing and maintaining acceptance criteria for project deliverables.
  • Assisting the QA function in test planning and execution, and guiding clients in best practices for user acceptance testing.
  • Using process improvement methodologies and tools to assist business users to analyse, design and implement more effective processes.
  • Following appropriate solution delivery lifecycles, liaising with work package leaders and project sponsors, and contributing to effective planning and use of resources.
  • Assisting with delivery of and transfer to business-as-usual for all project deliverables.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across Business Services teams and legal practice throughout the organisation.

  • Use of analytical methods and tools to understand and document stakeholder requirements.
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office – Word, Power Point, Excel and Teams skills.
  • Strong analytical and data analysis experience.
  • Experience as a Business Analyst in a business change and/or project-based environment.
  • Engagement in IT projects.
  • Precise and timely delivery of work whether small or large scale.
  • Generation and collation of analysis documentation including detailed data analysis and reports.
  • Working face‑to‑face with clients, including senior stakeholders across the firm on solutions that meet their needs.
  • Desirable: Relevant Business Analysis training and/or qualification.
  • Desirable: Experience working in a law firm environment, or alternately a similar professional services culture.
  • Desirable: Coordination of user testing.
  • Desirable: Awareness of the development process.
  • Desirable: Working effectively within budgets.
  • Desirable: Microsoft Project skills.
  • Desirable: Any of the widely accepted process documentation tools such as Microsoft Visio.
  • Desirable: Understanding of the use and configuration of Share Point.
  • Desirable: Understanding of the use of Azure Dev Ops to manage requirements backlog.
