Consolidated Timber Holdings (CTH) Ltd is a UK market leading group of customer focused, innovative and forward thinking companies, supplying sustainable timber products to the construction and joinery markets, mainly across the UK and Ireland. Today the Group consists of the industry trusted and established businesses, Falcon Timber and CTH Manufacturing, formed as a result of the joining together of Triesse and Hoffman Thornwood. We currently have over 300 employees operating out of 8 distribution depots, 3 manufacturing sites and our Head Office at the Port of Tilbury.
The Production Site Director is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the on site management of the production operation and strategic decision making. This individual must be customer-focused, production-oriented, and cost conscious, with strong leadership and communication skills. The role demands someone who can make calm and informed decisions, employ logical problem-solving skills, and drive continuous improvement across the site.
Core Responsibilities and Expectations:
- Site Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing site, ensuring smooth, efficient, and timely production. Lead a cross-functional team, including departments such as Planning, Procurement, Logistics, Production, and Engineering.
- Customer and Production Focus: Ensure production plans are aligned with customer needs, ensuring timely delivery of orders in full. Focus on improving production efficiencies, reducing waste, and maximising capacity throughout. Introduce and maintain processes and procedures to ensure high product quality standards.
- Leadership and Team Development: Mentor and train the team to create a strong talent pipeline for the business. Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
- Financial Management: Work closely with the finance team to manage site-related financial matters, including purchasing, sales invoicing and cost control. Monitor and control stock levels, ensuring adherence to agreed value and volume levels.
- Strategy and Operations: Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement strategies for business growth and performance improvement. Report regularly to the Managing Director and other senior business leaders on operational performance, key metrics, and action plans.
- Regulatory Compliance & Safety: Assume full accountability for Health & Safety (HSE), ensuring adherence to the company’s Health and Safety policies and frameworks. Develop a culture of safe working throughout the site.
What are we looking for in a candidate?
- Experience in manufacturing management, preferably in the building industry with batch-process oriented operations (e.g. Textile/Timber/Packaging Industry).
- Experience managing a significant segment of an SME operation.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Able to establish accountability immediately and be a Change Agent.
- Strong, metric-driven methodology with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Problem solving skills and strong analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Minitab and Business Change (desirable).
