Learning Support Assistant * Required for January 2025 Hoe Bridge School is looking to recruit a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their welcoming and supportive team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with teachers to create a nurturing and engaging learning environment. Your responsibilities will adapt to meet the needs of individual pupils or the specific class you are assigned to. You will have the ability to plan and create engaging activities for use during an intervention and are able to work well in a strong and focused team environment. In this role, you will be expected to: * To assist in promoting the learning and personal development of the pupils to whom you are assigned, to enable them to make best use of the educational opportunities available to them * To aid the pupils to learn as effectively as possible both in group situations and on their own * To use praise, commentary and assistance to encourage the pupil to concentrate and stay on task, providing additional nurture * To be able to provide emotional support when needed and adapt activities to help reduce levels of anxiety * To monitor and support the overall progress and development of the pupils * To plan, resource and deliver 1:1 intervention sessions focusing on the child’s specific targets under the guidance of the teacher and Head of Learning Support * To have proficient typing skills in order to support the pupils as they work in the classroom * To undertake annual Performance Management, setting and agreeing targets linked to the school development plan and setting priorities with the Headmaster * To share and support the school’s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for personal and academic growth * To work in liaison and co-operation with both staff and parents • To establish supportive relationships with the pupils concerned * Monitor the pupils responses to the learning activities and, where appropriate, modify or adapt the activities as agreed with the teacher to achieve the intended learning outcomes * To give positive encouragement, feedback and praise to reinforce and sustain the pupils efforts and develop self-reliance and self-esteem * To support the pupils in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom and be willing to support playground/break time supervision, for example educational games and clubs This is a full-time position of 35 hours per week, from 8.15 am to 4.15 pm, Monday to Friday, term time only. You would benefit from having previous school experience and a Teaching Assistant Level 3 qualification.
