We are currently seeking an Accounts Payable Manager to join our dedicated team. This pivotal role will involve overseeing the accounts payable function within the firm, ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently. As a member of our finance department, you will collaborate with various teams across the organisation to optimise workflows and maintain our commitment to excellence in service delivery. MAIN DUTIESDuties will vary in importance and priority, depending on circumstances and the needs of the business at any particular time, but will include the following key responsibilities:
- Inputting purchase invoices, obtaining approval from management for payment and making payment
- Management of supplier accounts on the system
- Maintaining nominal accounts relating to court fees, courier fees and taxi expenses along established guidelines
- Supplier account reconciliations
- Reviewing creditors lists and forecasting payments to be made over the coming weeks
- Reviewing the daily and monthly payment run on the online banking system
- Dealing with the day to day supplier queries and monitoring the supplier inbox
- Liaising with the billings and cashiering teams
- Producing reports for finance and the wider internal teams
- Supervision of the Accounts Payable Clerks
- Ensure compliance with VAT regulations
- Ensure compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules
- To identify required improvements to processes and controls or remedial action and present findings/recommendations to the management team
- To design internal guidelines and contribute to the development of our compliance infrastructure
- To deliver an effective and timely service to the firm by managing their own workload and maintaining a high degree of accuracy
- Assisting with other ad hoc tasks as required by the finance team
Experience in an Accounts Payable function within a law firm
- Good working knowledge of VAT regulations
- Experience overseeing junior team members
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
- Ability to present information simply and accurately, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work methodically to deal with a constant flow of work
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work appropriately
- Ability to work on own initiative and work without supervision
- Good analytical, diagnostic and numeracy skills
- Good telephone manner
- Strong IT skills (Excel VLOOKUP)
- Excellent attention to detail
