The predicted salary is between 12 - 15 £ per hour.

To provide a high quality, professional reception and administrative service to patients, doctors, staff, colleagues, health service professionals and others. To act as the first point of contact for patients contacting the Practice and to portray the Practice in the highest possible professional basis. To ensure that enquiries from patients are efficiently and courteously handled to the mutual satisfaction of the partners and patients.

Main duties of the job:

  • Greet patients and visitors to the practice.
  • Book in, amend and cancel patient appointments online with practice appointment procedures ensuring optimum efficiency of the appointment system.
  • Ensure that patients without appointments but who need urgent consultations are booked into appropriate slots and referred to a GP where necessary.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls, ensuring calls are documented and redirected accordingly.
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and temporary residents, ensuring procedures are completed.
  • Set-up of new patients onto the computer system.
  • Understand registration procedure.
  • Ensure prescription box is checked daily, email and paper prescriptions given to clinicians for processing.
  • Process docman scanning patient letters.
  • Check emails on a daily basis if access has been given.
  • Open and close surgery.
  • Work safely at all times in accordance with Legislative requirements and Practice Policy and Procedures.

Job responsibilities:

Requirement for GP receptionist and administrative staff. Previous NHS experience preferable but not essential. Candidate must be enthusiastic, able to travel between Practice and sister site, keen to learn and possess good IT skills. Wage based upon experience. Full time/ Part time/ Job share options available.

Experience:

  • Experience working in a team.
  • Experience of working in primary care.
  • Experience of working in a GP practice.
  • Experience of dealing with vulnerable patients.

Qualifications:

  • GCSE grade A to C in English and Maths (or equivalent).

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. Depending on experience £12.80-£15 per hour.
