The Senior Project Manager is a key leadership role within our Thames Water projects. This role will heavily focus on directing a project team on major improvements to our infrastructure. You’ll be accountable for one or more complex projects from inception to completion, and you’ll guide and develop a multi-disciplined team to ensure successful delivery to time, cost, and quality commitments.
What You’ll Be Doing As a Senior Project Manager
- You’ll be a client-side Senior Project Manager responsible for the investment from promoting the business need through solution definition, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and completion.
- Lead, develop and mentor a team of project management professionals.
- Take overall accountability for project schedule, cost and quality and lead the project team to meet project objectives.
- Establish a project health and safety culture and lead with a health and safety mindset.
- Work collaboratively with our external supply chain and drive contractor performance.
- Support the definition of solutions to meet the project objectives and be responsible for preparing a clear business case and promoting best value proposals to business endorsement.
- Ensure effective liaison with the relevant authorities and internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth running and timely project delivery.
- Contribute to steering project-wide continuous improvement and delivering against stretching targets.
- Commercially manage all contract matters to achieve the optimal outcome for Thames Water.
- Take accountability for compliance throughout the project’s lifecycles, preparing and promoting clear business cases to maintain governance, and ultimately overseeing the smooth transition of the project output into the operational business.
Role Location: This role will be based on a hybrid basis at Clearwater Court. Depending on business needs, you must work on-site and in the office 2-3 days a week.
The successful candidate should be a driver with access to their transport – this role does come with a car allowance of £5,800.
What You Should Bring To The Role
- Demonstrable track record of delivering complex projects in the built environment, infrastructure or utility industry.
- An engineering or other relevant degree.
- A business administration or project management qualification.
- Experience, aptitude and appetite for line managing a team.
- Demonstrable knowledge in managing the procurement and administration of contracts, including specification preparation, tendering, and tender evaluation processes, with experience in negotiation.
- Demonstrate your capability with risk-based and analytical decision-making.
- Confidence in speaking to all levels of external and internal stakeholders.
