HOCHTIEF (UK) Construction Limited is a leading international civil engineering company, specialising in complex market segments such as Transportation, Energy, Tunnelling, Building, Civil and Structural Engineering.

We are looking to recruit a new Sector Director to be responsible for developing growth in the defence sector. This will include overseeing and managing all delivery activities within the UK defence sector. This role includes acting as the sponsor and technical lead for preconstruction activities relating to developing successful bids (PQQ and Tender) and business development activity / client liaison and negotiation. You will ensure that all construction operations are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory standards. You will also be required to lead a team of professionals, coordinate with various stakeholders, and ensure the successful delivery of projects on time and within budget. This role may require you to travel to various project sites and have flexibility to work extended hours as needed. The primary locations for this role will be either Swindon, London or Manchester.

It is essential for this role that you are security cleared/vetted and hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. An advanced degree would be preferred. You will be required to have a previous defence sector background and an operational background in one of the following: Navy, Air Strategic Command, Army. Overseas military experience such as Joint Expeditionary Forces, NATO etc. would be beneficial along with involvement with US visiting forces. You will be able to demonstrate established experience in a leadership role within the defence industry as well as demonstrating experience of leading construction or civil engineering projects in this sector. You must have a strong operational knowledge of defence sector quality, environmental and safety regulations and standards. Previous experience in supporting preconstruction activity and developing winning bids, working with Bid Managers, Coordinators, Planners, Estimators, Writers, Commercial etc., would be beneficial to the role.
