The production team leader is responsible for being a leadership resource to team members, providing knowledge, experience, motivation, support, and advice. The leader is responsible for knowing the correct procedures for staff to follow and ensuring that they comply. The leader might be called upon to share special industry techniques on how to use tools and equipment, or tips on how to improve quality or speed of production. The production team leader encourages team effort and supportive attitudes between workers.
Responsibilities- Undertaking training relevant to their responsibilities.
- Ensuring that employees and contractors under their control are trained to complete their tasks.
- Support Training where needed.
- Ensuring that employees are assigned only to tasks for which they are competent to perform.
- Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
- Help with training and quality of all staff.
- Ensuring that contractors, sub‑contractors, and their workers have undertaken an induction.
- Work with supervisor and other team leads to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and the production schedule is achieved.
- Use basic problem‑solving skills to ensure product requirements are met.
- Report problems or concerns on quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labour to line manager.
- Work closely with support staff such as Production Supervisor, Materials/Warehouse to resolve issues.
- Observe, maintain, coordinate, and complete standard work.
- Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with line manager.
- Work as an active member of the team, assembling products when required.
- Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company, and make sure your staff below you do the same.
- Follow detailed assembly instructions, processes, and procedures, and make sure your staff below you do the same.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
- Follow Health and Safety in the workplace, and make sure all staff are following Health and Safety.
- Conduct daily departmental meetings and regularly communicate with all staff.
