Freelance Eyewear Designer Opportunity – Quality Eyewear Brand

We are creating a premium/mid-tier eyewear brand that will launch a range of distinctive and

technically sophisticated sunglasses next autumn. Our focus is on premium craftsmanship,

innovation, and exceptional design tailored for discerning customers who appreciate both

aesthetics and performance. To this end we are now seeking an experienced freelance eyewear

industrial designer who can help refine our vision and develop production-ready designs.

Due to the proprietary nature of our concept, we will require selected candidates to sign an NDA

before disclosing full project details. However, we are looking for a designer with the ability to solve

complex design challenges, iterate on ideas, and produce highly attractive, technically precise,

manufacturable designs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Concept Development: Translate initial creative direction into sophisticated, attractive and

manufacturable eyewear designs.

• Material & Construction Consultation: Recommend high-quality materials (acetate, titanium,

stainless steel, advanced polymers) and structural elements to optimize durability and function.

• Collaboration with Manufacturers: Ensure design feasibility by working closely with our

production partners to refine and adapt designs as needed.

• Technical Drawings & 3D Models: Provide precise CAD files, engineering specs, and technical

documentation suitable for manufacturers.

• Prototyping & Iteration: Guide the transition from concept sketches to functional prototypes,

considering manufacturing constraints and aesthetic refinement.

Key Qualifications:

• Extensive experience in eyewear or industrial design, with a portfolio demonstrating quality

eyewear.

• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, SolidWorks, Rhino, or other CAD software.

• Strong understanding of ergonomics, optical requirements, and high-end eyewear aesthetics.

• Experience sourcing premium materials and working with international manufacturers.

• Ability to balance technical constraints with design elegance.

• Existing or prior experience designing for quality independent eyewear brands

Project Scope & Engagement:

• Freelance/contract basis, with potential for ongoing collaboration.

• Work remotely, with scheduled check-ins and milestone reviews.

• Compensation based on experience and project complexity.
