Purpose of the Role: To lead the financial performance management of a growing multi-site restaurant group, ensuring profitability, cost efficiency, and investment readiness as the business expands. The role focuses on financial analysis, strategic planning, and managing key relationships with lenders, suppliers, and investors to support sustainable growth.
Responsibilities
- Financial Analysis and Performance Management
Analyse revenue, margin, and cost performance across all restaurant sites to identify efficiency opportunities. Develop KPIs and financial dashboards to track sales trends, site profitability, and labour cost ratios. Produce monthly and quarterly performance reviews for directors, highlighting risk areas and recommending corrective actions. Benchmark site performance and support pricing and menu mix decisions to improve return on investment. - Strategic Planning and Growth
Support feasibility analysis and business planning for proposed new restaurant sites. Prepare financial models and sensitivity analyses for expansion and capital investment decisions. Coordinate financing, lease, and funding discussions with banks, landlords, and external partners. Assess investment performance post-opening and adjust financial strategies accordingly. - Credit and Relationship Management
Manage credit exposure across customers, suppliers, and third parties, maintaining positive cash flow and healthy credit terms. Lead negotiations on supplier and utility contracts, ensuring value and financial stability. Maintain strong working relationships with financial institutions, auditors, and external stakeholders. - Governance and Control
Ensure internal financial policies and approval processes are applied consistently across sites. Review branch-level reporting and support site managers in interpreting P&L results and controlling operational costs. Monitor compliance with internal financial controls, cash handling, and financial reporting standards. - Leadership and Collaboration
Advise directors and senior management on financial implications of strategic decisions. Collaborate with the operations team to align financial performance goals with customer and operational objectives. Support the development of finance staff and implement tools to improve accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
Skills and Experience
- Strong analytical and commercial finance skills, with experience supporting multi-site retail, hospitality, or restaurant operations.
- Ability to interpret complex financial data, model business cases, and communicate actionable insights.
- Demonstrable experience in business planning, forecasting, and investment appraisal.
- Understanding of credit management, banking relationships, and capital expenditure control.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Recognised professional qualification (CIMA, ACCA, or similar) desirable but not mandatory.
- Minimum three years’ experience in financial management or commercial finance within a multi-site or fast-growing business.
