About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for an Education Sector Lead; this role can be based in any of our UK offices. As a Sector Lead, you will inspire and energise the collective endeavour of all working within the sector. The Education Sector Lead works with Division Director and Heads of Programme Directors to support them in work winning, delivery and advancing our work in the sector. They are accountable for the growth of the sector through a combination of enabling market insights that enhance successful business development, advancing client-centric service offerings to elevate technical excellence, and championing alignment with best-practice project delivery across the firm. With the Division Director, they provide strategic and operational direction to people working across the sector across the firm.
Acting as a visible role model, you will work with other leaders to foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, and success. Operating at a firmwide level, this role will champion the flexibility and mobilisation of people and capabilities across all Business Units to maximise client and market opportunities and help achieve the firm's collective outcomes.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
- Sector and Business Unit Strategy: Work with Division Director/s, Heads of Programme Directors and Business Unit Leads to establish, plan, and implement one-to-three-year sector strategies for the firm that enable growth. Work with clients and market connections and Programme Directors to identify and anticipate market needs, adjusting strategies and/or initiatives accordingly. Leads the firmwide sector leadership group.
- Business Development Client Engagement: Build a collective mindset and endeavour for the sector. Oversees and drives business development plans and performance for the sector across the firm. Work with the Division Directors, Heads of Programme Directors and the Business Development lead(s) to define and implement business development plans, initiatives and activities to achieve the goals for the sector and division.
- Client Relationship Management: Support the Heads of Programme Directors in driving client relationships and engagement strategies across the business units. Champions the engagement with the firm’s priority clients within the sector, setting the best practice standard for trusted advisory client management. Guide and champion the advancement of client-centric business development skills, working with the L&OD team and Business Development lead for the sector. Champions connection and collaboration across the Programme Director cohort enabling cross firm management of client relationships and key client accounts.
- Profile: Elevate the standing of the firm through their profile in the sector. Support the Programme Directors in elevating the profile of the firm with clients, relevant industry stakeholder organisations, government and/or academic institutions. Champion brand awareness encouraging the sharing of Hoare Lea's thought leadership, project success and technical excellence. Work with Programme Directors, champion the successful leadership and delivery of the portfolio of projects/programmes within the sector. Work with the Heads of Programme Directors to enable best practice leadership of the project/programme portfolios across the firm. Work with the Legal & Governance team to define firmwide risk and change management practices to address challenges and adopt best practice across the sector project portfolio.
- Financial and Portfolio Management: Accountable for the revenue and profit growth of the sectors defined by the AOP. Fosters collaboration across the Heads of Programme Director cohort and with the Finance teams to enable sharing and implementation of best practice financial and portfolio management.
- Governance and Compliance: Champions adherence to Hoare Lea / Tetra Tech governance and compliance standards for projects/programmes (i.e. PEEAC and Policy 100) and any other regulatory and/or compliance requirements. Works with Head of Programme Directors to achieve best practices across the sector’s portfolio of projects/programmes.
- Resource Management: Champions firmwide thinking, flexibility and alignment across the business units fostering collaboration and sharing of best practice resource management.
- Technical Excellence: Work with Technical Excellence and sector leadership driving the advancement of the service offerings relevant to the sectors within the division. Promote technical excellence across all business development and project delivery activities within the sector. Champion a mindset of curiosity and problem solving, and champion innovation, skills development and knowledge advancement.
- Development, Wellbeing and Diversity: Supports the development of Programme Directors and others working in the sector, coaching a growth mindset and empowering them to reach their potential. Fosters a diverse, inclusive, and supportive work environment. Provides mentoring to support colleagues through their career development. Champions the celebration of successes across the sector group.
