About the role We have a brand-new opportunity for a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team based in our Plymouth or Exeter offices. We have a well-established reputation for delivering outstanding design on built environment projects throughout the Southwest and further afield. Working alongside a range of specialist engineers and consultants, you will join a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team who love what they do and offer a supportive, flexible, and high-performing work culture. We have maintained an office in Plymouth since 1951, developing a strong regional reputation for award-winning projects. Our Exeter office opened in January 2022 at Broadwalk House in prestigious Southernhay West, we have brought a global network of excellence to the city by drawing on the expertise of our 1,000+ talented engineers, commissioning agents, and energy analysts. As a Senior or Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering designs for a range of project types and sizes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants delivering design solutions of the highest standard for our clients, while securing repeat and new business opportunities. A critical aspect of this role is to support and develop a team of technically competent, collaborative, and highly engaged team members. In this key and varied role, you can expect to: Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of the electrical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across several building sectors. Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards. Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery This is a client-facing role, so you will be attending project meetings and disseminating/translating the brief within the project team. Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered. Mentor and support our ‘next-gen’ professionals, including apprentices and graduates. About you To be successful in this role you’ll need: Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects. Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux. Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors / architects in a design-oriented / consultant role. Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
