About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team based in our Plymouth or Exeter offices.
We have a well-established reputation for delivering outstanding design on built environment projects throughout the Southwest and further afield. Working alongside a range of specialist engineers and consultants, you will join a collaborative, knowledgeable, highly engaged team who love what they do and offer a supportive, flexible, and high-performing work culture.
We have maintained an office in Plymouth since 1951, developing a strong regional reputation for award-winning projects.
Our Exeter office opened in January 2022 at Broadwalk House in prestigious Southernhay West, we have brought a global network of excellence to the city by drawing on the expertise of our 1,000+ talented engineers, commissioning agents, and energy analysts.
As a Senior or Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting and delivering designs for a range of project types and sizes. You will work within a multidisciplinary team of engineers and consultants delivering design solutions of the highest standard for our clients, while securing repeat and new business opportunities. A critical aspect of this role is to support and develop a team of technically competent, collaborative, and highly engaged team members.
In this key and varied role, you can expect to:
- Be responsible for the day-to-day technical delivery of the electrical design services for multi-disciplinary projects across several building sectors.
- Lead the development of initial strategic concepts for projects ensuring solutions are appropriate for the brief and regulatory standards.
- Interact regularly with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a communicative, collaborative and timely approach to delivery This is a client-facing role, so you will be attending project meetings and disseminating/translating the brief within the project team.
- Work with the team leader to help monitor fee expenditure, resources and work delivered.
- Mentor and support our ‘next-gen’ professionals, including apprentices and graduates.
About you
To be successful in this role you’ll need:
- Proven experience working as an Electrical Engineer or in a closely related role, with a track record delivering on a variety of complex projects.
- Experience of modern technical delivery processes, and use of relevant software/tools such as BIM, Revit, Electrical OM, Dialux and Relux.
- Demonstrable experience working with clients/contractors / architects in a design-oriented / consultant role.
- Self-awareness, an open mind, and a spirit of generosity
- Experience in supporting others to develop knowledge, skills, and confidence.
