We have a brand-new opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant to join our team based in our Oxford office. You will be part of the broader Sustainability Group, which has a presence in every Hoare Lea office across the country. The Group is an industry leader in sustainability design, construction and building operation, focused on achieving higher standards of environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support development of energy strategies with clients to lead sustainability innovation on a series of developments.
  • Undertake modelling and analysis, including building performance simulation, operational energy use, energy generation, overheating, embodied carbon of materials and circular economy opportunities.
  • Assist in the delivery of environmental assessments (BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc.) from early design stages through to completion.
  • Support the development of holistic Sustainability Strategies.
  • Train graduate members of the team and contribute to the development of junior team members.
  • Collaborate with other firm members on research and development initiatives to stay at the cutting edge of industry knowledge.
  • Engage in industry research, studies and authoring guidance to influence industry practice.

Qualifications

  • Experience working within the built environment sector.
  • Experience in a sustainability or engineering consultancy, seeking a new challenge at the forefront of the field.
  • Degree in an applicable field and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
  • Good communication skills and enthusiasm for teamwork.
  • Serious commitment to sustainability.
  • Knowledge of Building Regulations Part L, Overheating, TM54, NABERS assessments using IES.
  • Expertise in energy strategies and in-use energy modelling and assessment.
  • Experience with BREEAM, HQM, WELL, Fitwel assessments.
  • Ability to produce bespoke sustainability charters and planning documents including sustainability statements, energy statements, whole life carbon reports and circular economy statements.
  • Experience with whole life carbon assessments using OneClick or similar methodologies.
  • Understanding of net zero carbon strategies and embodied carbon calculations.
