About the role

We have a new opportunity for an Associate Sustainability Consultant to join our team based in our Leeds office. It’s an exciting time to be part of the sustainability discipline which has a presence in every Hoare Lea office across the country. We provide a diverse sustainability consultancy service promoting sustainable development for a range of projects, across all sectors. Our sustainability discipline leads the industry with cutting-edge approaches to sustainable design, construction, and building operation. Focused on driving ever higher standards of environmental performance, our consultants thrive in a dynamic, innovative, and purpose-driven culture. In this key and varied role, you can expect:

  • Project Leadership across multiple sectors.
  • Overseeing and reviewing quality of modelling outcomes.
  • Managing energy & simulation focussed workstreams.
  • Developing junior team members across the team and Business Unit in Building Physics / Simulation.
  • Supporting senior team members with line management, resourcing, fee proposals, business development, and development appraisals.
  • Working with Project and Ops leads across the Business Unit.

In addition to project work, we engage directly with industry through research and development studies and by authoring key guidance documents. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape industry standards, perfect for those eager to influence the future of the built environment.

About you

You are likely to have some knowledge and competence in a selection of the following fields:

  • Energy strategies.
  • Production of and support of planning submissions.
  • Building Regulations Part L assessments.
  • In-use energy modelling and evaluation, including NABERS.
  • Dynamic modelling for thermal comfort assessments and overheating risk assessments.
  • Net zero carbon strategies.
  • Holistic sustainability strategies.
  • Ability to translate complex design solutions into understandable outcomes for our clients.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience working within the built environment sector.
  • Experience working within a sustainability or engineering consultancy, you will be looking for a new challenge within a practice at the very forefront of our field.
  • Expertise (with a degree in an applicable field) and a passion for creating sustainable solutions.
  • You will relish being part of a dynamic team within a progressive and well-respected firm.
  • Good communication skills and an enthusiasm for working within a team environment.
  • Collaborative working style.
  • Excellent time-management and an ability to prioritise tasks.
