About the role
We have a brand-new opportunity for an Education Sector Lead; this role can be based in any of our UK offices. As a Sector Lead, you will inspire and energise the collective endeavour of all working within the sector. The Education Sector Lead works with Division Directors and Heads of Programme Directors to support work winning, delivery, and advancement of our work in the sector. They are accountable for the growth of the sector through enabling market insights, advancing client-centric service offerings to elevate technical excellence, and championing alignment with best-practice project delivery across the firm. With the Division Director, they provide strategic and operational direction to people working across the sector across the firm. Acting as a visible role model, you will foster a culture of high performance, collaboration, and success. The role operates at a firmwide level to champion flexibility and mobilisation of people and capabilities across all Business Units to maximise client and market opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Sector and Business Unit Strategy: Work with Division Directors, Heads of Programme Directors and Business Unit Leads to establish, plan, and implement one-to-three-year sector strategies that enable growth.
- Identify and anticipate market needs with clients and market connections and Programme Directors, adjusting strategies and initiatives accordingly. Lead the firmwide sector leadership group.
- Business Development Client Engagement: Build a collective mindset for the sector. Oversee and drive business development plans and performance across the firm. Define and implement plans and activities to achieve sector and division goals.
- Client Relationship Management: Support Heads of Programme Directors in driving client relationships and engagement strategies; champion best-practice trusted advisory client management. Promote client-centric business development skills with the L&OD team and sector leadership.
- Foster cross-firm collaboration across the Programme Director cohort to manage client relationships and key accounts.
- Profile Elevate the firm’s standing through sector profile; support Programme Directors in increasing visibility with clients, industry stakeholders, government, and academia.
- Promote brand awareness and sharing of Hoare Lea’s thought leadership, project success, and technical excellence.
- Project Planning, Execution & Risk Management: Collaborate with Programme Directors to lead and deliver the portfolio of sector projects/programmes. Enable best-practice leadership of project/programme portfolios across the firm with Heads of Programme Directors.
- Define firmwide risk and change management practices with Legal & Governance to address challenges and adopt best practice across the sector portfolio.
- Financial and Portfolio Management: Accountable for revenue and profit growth of the sectors defined by the AOP. Foster collaboration with Heads of Programme Directors and Finance to share and implement best practices in financial and portfolio management.
- Governance and Compliance: Champion adherence to Hoare Lea / Tetra Tech governance and compliance standards (e.g., PEEAC and Policy 100) and other regulatory requirements. Work with Heads of Programme Directors to achieve best practices across the sector portfolio.
- Resource Management: Promote firmwide thinking, flexibility, and alignment across business units to foster collaboration and share best practices in resource management.
- Technical Excellence: Collaborate with Technical Excellence and sector leadership to advance service offerings relevant to sector needs. Promote technical excellence across business development and project delivery activities; encourage curiosity, innovation, and continuous learning.
- People Leadership Development, Wellbeing and Diversity: support Programme Directors and others in the sector; coach growth mindset and empower potential. Foster a diverse, inclusive, and supportive work environment. Mentoring to support career development. Celebrate sector successes.
