About The Role
We have a brand‑new opportunity for a Sustainability Consultant or Senior Sustainability Consultant to join our sustainability discipline in one of the above locations. The role is part of a growing team focused on achieving the highest standards of environmental performance and circular economy in the built environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead whole life carbon assessments and circular economy strategy for project sites using in‑house tools and OneClick LCA software.
- Develop site‑specific whole life carbon appraisals and BREEAM MAT 01 appraisals.
- Facilitate workshops with design teams, clients, contractors and local authorities to agree on carbon targets, strategies to reduce emissions and embed circular economy principles.
- Support and/or lead the development of energy and sustainability strategies for clients.
- Deliver environmental and wellbeing assessments such as BREEAM, WELL and HQM across project life cycles.
- Conduct building performance simulations, operational energy estimates and overheating studies.
- Support the training of junior staff and provide project leadership on small‑to‑medium projects involving whole life carbon or circular economy workstreams.
- Engage with industry bodies to conduct research and author guidance documents.
About You – Core Competencies
- Experience with whole life carbon assessments (embodied and operational) using OneClick or other methodologies.
- Familiarity with industry guidance including RICS Whole Life Carbon Professional Statement, UK Net Zero Carbon Buildings Standard, UK Green Building Council, IStructE, LETI, Circular Economy Statements and Net Zero Carbon strategies.
Advantageous Competencies
- Experience developing energy and sustainability strategies for planning and design.
- Proficiency in environmental and wellbeing appraisals (BREEAM, WELL, Fitwel).
- Knowledge of energy performance modelling tools (ApacheHVAC, Building Regulations Part L, NABERS, Passivhaus).
- Successful delivery of planning applications and experience of local authority collaboration, particularly in London.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in engineering or science with relevant professional experience.
- At least 3–5 years working within the built environment or sustainability consultancy in a similar capacity.
- Demonstrated expertise in whole life carbon, circular economy and sustainable design.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team.
- Commitment to sustainability and business development.
