We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic Trainee Wine Waiter to join our Food & Beverage team and develop a rewarding long-term career in wine service.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has a genuine interest in wine and hospitality and is eager to learn from experienced professionals. Working closely with our Junior Sommelier and Head of Food & Beverage, you will receive hands-on coaching, mentoring and practical experience while developing the skills and confidence to deliver exceptional wine service.

Following the successful completion of your probationary period, you will begin a structured development programme designed to support your progression into a specialist wine role. As part of this programme, Hoar Cross Hall will fully fund your WSET Level 2 and WSET Level 3 qualifications, alongside a tailored development plan with clear milestones to help you achieve your career goals.

What you'll be doing

As a Trainee Wine Waiter, you'll play an important role in delivering memorable dining experiences while developing your wine knowledge and service expertise. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the presentation, service and promotion of our carefully curated wine selection
  • Developing a thorough understanding of our wine list, grape varieties, wine regions and styles
  • Learning to confidently recommend wines and food pairings that complement our menus and enhance our guests' dining experience
  • Working alongside our Junior Sommelier, Head of Food & Beverage and wider Food & Beverage team to deliver exceptional service
  • Supporting wine tastings, wine events and educational sessions as your knowledge and confidence develop
  • Promoting featured wines, seasonal selections and wine-related experiences to our guests
  • Continuously developing your knowledge of wines, service techniques and luxury hospitality standards

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and excited to build a specialist career in wine service. You will ideally have:

  • A genuine passion for wine, food and delivering exceptional guest experiences
  • A positive attitude, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work well as part of a team
  • A commitment to providing outstanding customer service in a luxury hospitality environment
  • Previous hospitality experience would be an advantage but is not essential. We're far more interested in your enthusiasm, attitude and desire to learn than your existing wine knowledge.
  • Existing wine qualifications, such as WSET Level 2, would also be advantageous but are not required.

Your career development

We are committed to investing in your future. Following the successful completion of your probationary period, you will become eligible to begin our structured wine development programme. This includes fully funded WSET Level 2 and WSET Level 3 qualifications, supported by mentoring from our experienced wine professionals and a clear development plan to help you progress within the business.

Please note: The funded WSET qualifications form part of your long-term development pathway and will only commence once your probationary period has been successfully completed.

  • Full-time position - 37.5 hours per week
  • Working 5 out of 7 days per week (including weekends and bank holidays)
  • Working late afternoons and evenings
  • Salary: £13.75 per hour
