Our mission is to revolutionize the way satellites, space robots, and spacecraft communicate through deep space, in-earth orbit, and with ground stations. Our technology is based on space-proven state-of-the-art proprietary Manycore architecture that enables a novel approach to efficiently design satellite communication systems.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced R&D Leader to join our innovative team. In this role, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for developing advanced digital satellite communication systems. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in leading multidisciplinary teams, specifically in developing embedded systems for space applications, and a robust background in telecom, ideally in developing digital telecom payloads for satellites. Experience with European Space Agency (ESA) lead projects is a significant advantage.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead and manage a multidisciplinary R&D team developing digital telecom payloads and embedded systems for satellite applications.
  • Oversee the entire product development lifecycle, from inception to production, ensuring adherence to project timelines and milestones.
  • Develop and implement engineering strategies, processes, and best practices to enhance efficiency, quality, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with adjacent teams and departments to ensure seamless integration and delivery of projects.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the engineering teams, encouraging the adoption of new technologies and methodologies.
  • Ensure all engineering activities comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Manage project resources and risks, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence within the engineering teams.
  • Mentor and develop engineering team members, providing guidance, training, and career development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and external partners to ensure transparency and alignment on project goals and status.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams developing embedded systems, particularly for space applications.
  • Knowledge and experience in developing cellular networks.
  • Experience in leading a system architecture stage of a project.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of embedded telecom systems.
  • Strong knowledge of digital communication principles and satellite communication protocols.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and debug complex embedded systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and teamwork abilities, with a demonstrated history of effective collaboration across departments.
  • Proven experience with R&D management, including managing resources and risks to ensure on-time and within-spec project delivery.
  • Familiarity with space industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices related to satellite communication and embedded systems.

  • Familiarity with radiation-hardened component selection and design practices for space applications.
  • Good understanding of the interactions between electronics, firmware (FW), and software (SW) aspects in creating accurate system architecture.

  • Good knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and development methodologies.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), software-defined radios (SDRs), and FPGA programming.
  • Experience in system engineering, focusing on the overall design and architecture of satellite communication systems.
  • Experience with Xilinx toolchains and ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with antenna systems, RF frontend design, and modulation techniques.
  • Experience with 5G waveform, DVB-S2X, CCSDS modems, DPDK, and VPP L2/L3 processing.
  • Experience in executing a European Space Agency (ESA) lead project.
