About the Role: We’re looking for an experienced and driven Project Director to join our team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for overseeing and optimising operational performance, ensuring project delivery excellence, and driving business growth in alignment with H&MV Engineering’s strategic objectives. You’ll work closely with delivery teams, clients, and stakeholders to meet the challenges of today’s demanding utility market, enabling us to deliver least cost solutions that do not compromise safety, quality, or customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop business opportunities with existing and new clients, working closely with the BD team and leading early project design/delivery discussions.
  • Lead and manage project teams including PMs, commercial managers, and lead engineers, ensuring adherence to H&MV policies and standards.
  • Attend key client, internal, and review meetings to ensure alignment, communication, and consistent project oversight.
  • Ensure effective collaboration between project teams and support functions such as safety, procurement, quality, and planning.
  • Oversee project performance and report progress, risks, and issues to the COO/Operations Director or Regional Operations Manager.
  • Manage project risks, escalated site issues where required, and ensure accurate commercial processes and reporting.
  • Play a key role in subcontractor appointments, ensuring scopes are clear with no gaps.

Key Requirements:

  • Electrical Engineering apprenticeship, ONC diploma or degree, extensive relevant experience.
  • 5 years+ construction/engineering experience, with years as a Project Engineer working on Data Centres.
  • High voltage asset management experience, ideally within distribution and/or generation, transmission, or utilities.
  • Strong client‑facing, stakeholder, contract, and team management skills with excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to define, manage, and work within detailed budgets while making evidence‑based decisions under pressure.
  • Technically strong with engineering leadership experience, risk identification and management, and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Competent with IT systems including MS Office (SharePoint advantageous) and experienced in developing and managing high‑performing teams.
