An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Senior Registered Nurse to join our ward team at Healthcare Management Trust. This is a fixed maternity leave post for 12 months. We are looking for an enthusiastic, compassionate and proactive Registered Nurse with significant surgical nursing experience who is ready to demonstrate clinical leadership and support the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality patient care.
As a Senior Registered Nurse, you will work closely with the Head of Patient Care / Ward Manager and the wider multidisciplinary team. You will provide clinical leadership on the ward, act as a role model for colleagues and deputise for the Ward Manager when required. This is a rewarding opportunity for a nurse who is passionate about delivering excellent patient-centred care and supporting the development of others.
Main duties of the job:
- Take charge of the ward when required, ensuring the delivery of safe and effective patient care.
- Provide clinical leadership and act as a positive role model for Registered Nurses, Healthcare Support Workers and learners.
- Deputise for the Head of Patient Care / Ward Manager in their absence.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individualised programmes of patient care.
- Provide high-quality nursing care to a diverse range of surgical patients, including patients with complex needs.
- Recognise and respond appropriately to patients whose condition is deteriorating.
- Supervise and support junior staff, student nurses and new members of the team.
- Delegate appropriately and ensure that care and clinical tasks are completed to a high standard.
- Support staff with clinical decision-making and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Work collaboratively with consultants and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Contribute to clinical governance, including audits, incident management, investigations and patient safety initiatives.
- Monitor bed management and escalate issues to the Head of Patient Care / Ward Manager.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and confidential patient records.
- Promote evidence-based practice and contribute to continuous quality improvement.

Person Specification:
- Registered Adult Nurse Part 1 NMC Register.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

- Extensive post-registration experience in surgical nursing.
