Position Overview: Do you have strong people advisory skills, a proactive approach to problem‑solving, and a passion for supporting managers and colleagues? We’re looking for a People Advisor to join our team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract and play a key role in delivering a professional, people‑focused service across the organisation.
Working Pattern: This role operates on a hybrid working pattern (3 days in the office and 2 days from home). The successful candidate will be required to work from our Liverpool city centre office on Mondays, our St Helens office on Tuesdays, and a third day at one of our other office locations, in line with business needs.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing a varied caseload of employee relations matters, providing expert advice to managers and colleagues.
- Supporting performance management processes, including capability, development plans and use of data and systems.
- Lead on attendance management, including absence monitoring, return‑to‑work meetings and long‑term cases.
- Providing clear guidance on policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment legislation and best practice.
- Build strong relationships with managers, acting as a trusted point of contact for people‑related advice and support.
- Working collaboratively with Housing, Assets and Corporate teams to deliver a consistent HR service.
- Supporting recruitment, retention, talent development and apprenticeship programmes across the organisation.
- Contributing to People Strategy delivery, corporate initiatives and transformation projects.
- Assisting in identifying learning needs and sourcing appropriate training solutions.
- Maintaining accurate, confidential records, ensuring data integrity and audit compliance.
- Working in partnership with trade unions to foster positive and productive relationships.
- Promoting value for money through efficient processes and effective use of systems.
- Ensure all activity aligned with health & safety, equality and safeguarding requirements.
What we’re looking for:
- CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent experience.
- Experience working in a People/HR advisory role, providing support across a range of employee relations matters.
- Strong knowledge of employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Experience supporting managers with performance management, absence and conduct issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Ability to manage a varied workload, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with experience maintaining accurate records.
- Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders, including trade unions (desirable).
- Understanding of apprenticeship programmes and talent development (desirable).
- High levels of IT literacy and confidence using HR systems.
- A proactive, resilient and customer‑focused approach.
- A commitment to health and safety, equality, and excellent service delivery.
