You'll play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for young people, community groups, visitors and colleagues using the hub.

This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for the day-to-day cleaning and general upkeep of the site. From carrying out routine cleaning duties and facilities checks to supporting health and safety compliance and responding to customer enquiries, you'll help ensure FireFit Hub remains a high-quality community facility that everyone can enjoy.

Working Pattern / Rota

  • 22 hours per week.
  • Ideally Monday to Friday mornings, with shifts of approximately 4 hours per day.
  • We can be flexible on working patterns for the right candidate.
  • Flexibility is required to support the needs of the business, including occasional evenings and weekends.

Please note that, due to FFH operating on annualised hours, the contracted hours for this role are 23.34 per week. Scheduled shifts total 22 hours, with the remaining hours allocated to training, meetings and other role-related activities.

What you'll be doing

  • Carrying out a range of cleaning duties across the site, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, washing, buffing and maintaining internal and external areas.
  • Supporting the day-to-day presentation, cleanliness and safety of FireFit Hub.
  • Conducting visual inspections of equipment and facilities, reporting defects, faults or areas of concern where required.
  • Using cleaning products, materials and equipment safely in line with COSHH regulations and safe systems of work.
  • Maintaining stock levels, organising storage areas and ensuring equipment is clean, safe and accessible.
  • Keeping accurate records relating to cleaning standards, stock control and routine checks.
  • Using communication and IT systems to receive instructions, update records and support day-to-day operations.
  • Providing a friendly, professional and helpful service to customers, visitors and colleagues.
  • Supporting a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment by following safeguarding, health and safety and equality policies at all times.
  • Working flexibly as part of the wider team to support the effective operation of the hub.

What we're looking for

  • An interest in cleaning, caretaking or facilities work, with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Previous cleaning experience would be desirable but is not essential.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements and COSHH regulations, or a willingness to learn.
  • A proactive and reliable approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and customer service skills, with a friendly and professional manner.
  • A keen eye for detail and pride in keeping environments clean, safe and welcoming.
  • GCSE Maths and English at Level 2 (or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a community, leisure or multi-use environment and a First Aid at Work qualification would be advantageous.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, health and safety, and delivering a positive experience for customers and visitors.

Interview Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person competency-based discussion at FireFit Youth & Community Hub on 24th and 25th September 2026.
