Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a Gas, Plumbing & Heating Engineer based in North Weald Bassett. The engineer will need to be able to install, service, and repair gas boilers, central heating systems, and carry out a variety of plumbing repairs in residential and commercial properties. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Servicing boilers
- Diagnosing faults
- General plumbing
- Heating and hot water system installation
- Carrying out maintenance and repair work
- Testing systems for safety and efficiency
- Completing necessary documentation and certifications
The role also involves responding to in hours call-outs, working to planned schedules, liaising with customers to explain work undertaken, and ensuring all tasks comply with relevant safety regulations and industry standards. The engineer will collaborate with office staff and other field engineers to plan jobs, manage materials, and deliver a professional, customer-focused service.
Qualifications
- Strong plumbing skills, including installation and maintenance of pipework and associated systems.
- Proven experience in maintenance & repair and general maintenance within gas, heating, and plumbing environments (minimum 5 years).
- Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and respectfully in customers’ homes and workplaces.
- Relevant gas qualifications (e.g., Gas Safe registration or equivalent) and proven experience as a gas and heating engineer.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations and safe working practices on-site.
- Full, valid UK driving licence and the ability to travel to various local sites as required.
- Ability to work independently and with others, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Experience with both domestic and light commercial systems is desirable; additional certifications (e.g., unvented cylinders, LPG, Oftec) are an advantage.
