This role is within the Analysis Guild in the Chief Data and Information Office (CDIO), working across projects supporting Borders and Trade (B&T). Within CDIO, the Business Analysis professionals play an essential role in delivering high quality analysis using different methodologies and techniques to define technical requirements. The CDIO Borders and Trade Delivery Group are responsible for the end-to-end service management and development of over 140 separate services from the generation of Trade Statistics to the administration of Customs and Excise duties.

As a Senior Business Analyst in the Analysis Guild in CDIO Borders and Trade, you will provide technical business analysis skills to support the delivery of change to Borders and Trade systems. Collaborating with colleagues across CDIO, you will define the requirements for technical systems and integrations required to meet the business needs. You will lead the analysis on larger, complex projects to deliver change to B&T systems, mentoring and delegating tasks to other BAs where appropriate. You will also be expected to directly line manage other BAs if required. Person specification

• Lead requirements gathering workshops and stakeholder engagement sessions for large and complex projects.
• Elicit, document, and analyse technical requirements from stakeholders, identifying areas for improvement and transformation.
• Scope and shape the analysis work required and input into the resourcing needs for large projects.
• Define acceptance criteria and support system testing activities.
• Develop detailed technical process models and documentation.
• Collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders to lead analysis activities in the delivery of new systems and system changes.
• Manage stakeholder relationships and communications throughout the project lifecycle.
• Proactively contribute to the continuous improvement of business analysis practices and methodologies through sharing of your knowledge and expertise.
• Provide mentorship, training and guidance to business analysts within your project team.
• Line Management of staff, supporting their professional and personal development and performance management.

Essential Criteria

• Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst, working on large, highly complex and technical projects.
• Ability to work in ambiguity whilst defining and agreeing scope of BA work.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in business analysis tools and techniques, in particular process modelling and technical requirements elicitation.
• Experience working directly with developers and architects to define low level solution requirements.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
• Experience mentoring and leading business analysts on projects.

Desirable Criteria

• Knowledge of customs and trade regulations or related domains.
• Line Management experience.
• Familiarity with data analysis and visualisation techniques.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and practices.
