Job description

You will be a key member of the delivery team, joining our journey moving from Legacy technology to Cloud based solutions.

This is an exciting and challenging role as well as an opportunity to make a real difference to people's lives by delivering great digital products.

We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills with a good sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work. On-call for the important HMRC services the area support, with the occasional need to have scheduled work out of hours.

Person specification

Responsibilities:

• Lead a small team of technical colleagues and prioritise own workload.
• Develop, share and maintain technical knowledge.
• Work with colleagues to deliver solutions within the required timescales.
• Provide support for live systems, build and maintain the development environments and resolve incidents and problems.
• Provide impact analysis/estimates for enhancements and changes and undertake peer reviews.
• Build, test, document and implement solutions in accordance with the Delivery Framework and to team quality standards.
• Develop and test coding changes in accordance with program specifications and test strategies.

We are looking for enthusiastic, technically minded individuals with a strong problem-solving mentality, able to work well leading a team.

Essential Criteria

You will already have knowledge, experience and understanding of:

• Version control.
• A wide range of Operating Systems (predominantly RedHat Enterprise Linux).

You will have a number of the following technologies:

• Common DevOps tools e.g. Gitlab, Artifactory, HC Vault.
• One of these languages: Unix/Linux shell scripting, Perl, Python.
• Configuration/infrastructure management tools e.g. Ansible, Terraform.
• Container based infrastructure.
• Cloud Platforms (e.g. AWS, Azure).

Desirable Criteria

Ideally you will also have experience of:

• Monitoring and Logging Software.
• Leading and developing People.
• Be able to communicate complex changes to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Leeds Locations

Moves Adjustment Payment will be available for this role, provided the successful applicant is a current HMRC colleague in Bradford and meets the eligibility requirements outlined in the HMRC's Moves Adjustment Payment guidance.

How to Apply

As part of the application process, you will be asked to provide the following:

• A name-blind CV including your job history and previous experiences.
• A 750-word Personal Statement. Your Personal Statement should be used to describe how your skills and experience would be suitable for the advertised role, making reference to the Essential Criteria and Person Specification outlined in the advert.

Please complete a separate statement (Max 250 words) for the Desirable Criteria where applicable. This is not essential for the role but may be considered by the vacancy-holder where candidates have the same scores at interview.

Prior to applications being sifted candidates will be asked to complete an additional IKM assessment. Candidates will be sent details of the assessment once the advert has closed. This assessment is a pass or fail and only those who pass will be considered at the sift stage.

Sift

At full sift your CV and your Personal Statement will be assessed, with the successful candidates being invited to interview.

Interview

During the panel interview, your experience will be assessed to explore in detail what you are capable of and your motivations relevant to the job role.
