HMRC's Fraud Investigation Service (FIS) is responsible for the department's civil and criminal investigations. Our investigation capability is fundamental to managing and reducing the tax gap, meeting HMRC's strategic objectives and supporting the aims of a healthy tax system.
Investigation Services brings mainstream and highly specialist capabilities together to enhance and support the full range of criminal, civil and regulatory investigations into serious tax fraud and money laundering undertaken in FIS. This role in Investigation Services Core provides vital services to the full range of FIS investigations, helping HMRC tackle the many and pressing challenges that modern-day tax fraud presents.
Investigation Hub Officers will be responsible for delivering core services, covering a variety of activities and are part of every criminal and civil investigation carried out by HMRC. It should be noted that a variety of services are offered to customers and staff are required to be able to work flexibly and on an adhoc basis. There is an element of manual work included with the role, including manual handling, preparation of operational items, property exhibits, vehicle checks.
They will provide excellent service to a range of customers, supporting investigations through activities such as:
- Interrogating departmental systems, preparing standard intelligence packs and standardising and interpreting data.
- Procurement of essential items and management of associated budgets.
- Developing professional stakeholder relationships with investigators to support planning and delivery.
- Managing property and vehicles, as part of which you may be required to drive an official vehicle for reasons such as return of evidence, property retrieval or for vehicle maintenance / repairs.
- Manage work allocations to ensure high quality, timely, delivery of essential services to support FIS investigations.
- Ensure that tasks undertaken are of the highest standard through quality assurance processes.
- Management of staff may be required.
Attendance on the Investigation Services Officer Training course is required, which may require travel with an overnight stay.
