About Customer Compliance Group (CCG)

Customer Compliance Group (CCG) is a business area that ensures that HMRC successfully collects the full and correct amount of money due from UK taxpayers, investigates offences against the tax system and takes action to identify and mitigate potential threats. The compliance work we carry out across CCG is vital in making sure HMRC is collecting the money that pays for the UK's public services and giving financial support to people.

About Compliance Design and Response (CDR)

The CDR team within COD has been set up to ensure HMRC is targeting the right compliance work using the right tools to achieve our desired outcomes. The aim of the function is to work with colleagues across CCG and HMRC to design end-to-end compliance activities matched to priority areas of risk which cut across CCG and wider. This will involve using the Compliance Control framework approach, including upstream, non-casework responses, 1-2-1 and fraud/criminal responses. The Business Support officer will be based in a central team within CDR, which supports multiple project teams who are dealing with specific risks.

Job description Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Inbox management: Identifying urgent or important emails that require quick action, commissioning and collating responses, and managing prioritisation and escalation. You will also ensure emails are dealt with in the DD/G6's absence, which may include responding on their behalf.
  • Diary management: Managing meeting requests and optimising the DD/G6's time by planning, coordinating and prioritising their schedule, resolving diary conflicts, and ensuring relevant meeting materials are prepared in advance.
  • Logistics: Arranging travel and accommodation in line with policy and value-for-money principles. Sourcing meeting rooms across Regional Centres where required. This may also include arranging and coordinating visibility visits (planning, setting and agreeing agendas), taking meeting notes, following up actions, and occasionally deputising for colleagues within the private office network.
  • SharePoint site management, information collation and reporting.
  • General support: The central team within CDR provides a range of functions to support and enable framework delivery. The successful candidate may be required to undertake additional tasks as they arise to ensure the effective delivery of the frameworks.

  • Communication & relationships: Strong interpersonal skills with clear, confident oral and written communication; able to build productive relationships across stakeholders.
  • Judgement & ownership: Demonstrates sound judgement; a self-starter who takes ownership, shows resilience, works with minimal direction and maintains excellent attention to detail.
  • Professionalism & confidentiality: Diplomatic, professional, and role models strong corporate behaviours; maintains confidentiality at all times.
  • Digital skills: Competent in Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Inbox management: Proven experience successfully managing multiple busy senior inboxes.
