HMRC Chief Digital & Information Officer is made up of Customer Groups which are working independently towards one common goal. Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting Delivery Manager(s) with the delivery of large scale / complex IT projects or lead the end-to-end delivery of one or more small to medium scale IT or digital projects.
  • Contributing to the development and maintenance of delivery plans and status reporting.
  • Identifying, managing, and escalating risks, issues, and dependencies within the delivery environment.
  • Supporting, monitoring and challenging commercials/costs across delivery partners.
  • Forecasting and Tracking costs throughout the project, and handling anomalies.
  • Building and maintaining effective and collaborative relationships to support successful delivery outcomes.
  • Understanding of both Agile and waterfall delivery methodologies and how to apply them in a Delivery Management setting.
  • Contributing to the Delivery Manager community and sharing good practice.
  • Working collaboratively with Product Managers, Delivery Managers, and Project Managers to ensure delivery aligns with scope, requirements, and timelines.

Essential Criteria

The successful candidate will have recent experience with IT or digital products or services, and need to demonstrate practical experience in the following:

  • Managing and balancing multiple priorities within a technical delivery environment.
  • Identifying and helping to remove barriers to support effective IT and digital delivery.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders to support collaboration and successful delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrating commercial awareness through supporting the monitoring of project costs and engaging with suppliers to ensure value for money.
  • Awareness of Agile and Waterfall methodologies, and how they support delivery.
  • Applying effective organisation and planning skills to support delivery activities.
  • Supporting project governance through maintaining project plans and tracking risks, issues, and dependencies.

Benefits

Alongside your salary of 37,682, HM Revenue and Customs contributes 10,916 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. HMRC operates both Flexible and Hybrid Working policies, allowing you to balance your work and personal commitments. We welcome applications from those who need to work a more flexible arrangement and will agree to requests where possible, considering our operational and customer service needs.

We offer a generous leave allowance, starting at 25 days and increasing by a day for every year of qualifying service up to a maximum of 30 days.
