We have an exciting opportunity for a Substance Misuse Healthcare Assistant to join our Substance Misuse team at HMP Winchester, a category B prison located in Winchester. HMP Winchester is a busy male prison with a capacity for 690 inmates.

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week – Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 08:00 to 16:00.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the registered nurse in implementing an agreed plan of care in association with the patient and in accordance with instructions and training received whilst promoting safe patient care.
  • Be willing to develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.

Qualifications:

  • NVQ level 2/3 or equivalent in Health and Social Care.
  • Experience or knowledge of Substance Misuse.
  • A non-judgmental and compassionate approach.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good IT skills and IT literacy.
  • Ability to work within a busy environment.
  • Ability to work unsupervised whilst following policy and procedures.
  • Experience in a hospital, community or prison environment is desirable but not essential.

Salary and Support: This is a full-time position. You will receive an annual salary up to £31,89 per annum FTE, depending on experience. Support includes bespoke induction, our Introducing Health in Justice training course, competency framework, regional and national career development opportunities, and a bespoke Learning Management System.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK and, due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.
