As a Plumber, you'll be involved in a wide range of tasks crucial to our daily operations. Your responsibilities will typically include:

  • Responsible for the provision of a variety of maintenance and reactive tasks (as possible in accordance with competency), with attention to detail and an uncompromising approach to compliance.
  • Carry out PPM activities and reactive repairs.
  • Routine and non-routine maintenance.
  • Fault-finding and identification of life-expired equipment.
  • Check, repair and make good faults and life expired equipment.
  • Inspections, water sampling and risk assessment.
  • Mains water supply repairs.
  • Minimise wastage and continually improve processes.
  • Ensure statutory works are carried out on time and that work is compliant.
  • This role may include working at height and in all weather conditions.
  • New works/installations/upgrades/commissioning.
  • Follow MOJ Security protocols, including tool management.
  • Any other duties commensurate with the role.
  • Where required, you may be asked to support other establishments on an ad hoc basis.
  • Assist escorting duties as required.

You will need to be honest, hard-working, reliable, trustworthy and have great attention to detail, alongside being an excellent team player.

All applicants who are interested in the position must pass MOJ Prison Clearance, which can take up to 8 weeks or more. You will need a passport or photo driving licence to apply for clearance. Once passed, this is valid for 5 years and can be transferred to any other prisons of a similar category.

Qualifications

  • NVQ level 2 in Plumbing and Heating with experience in plumbing maintenance
  • Experience of operating light plant
  • Legionella awareness and compliance. - Desirable

Skills

  • Basic Health and Safety
  • Basic IT skills

Experience

  • Proven track record of working with commercial water systems and understanding of water storage systems
  • Have experience of working with compliance of water management and Legionella
  • An understanding of building maintenance
  • Knowledge of building and system compliance (training will be provided)
  • Experience of working within a custodial environment (desirable)
  • Able to work at heights
  • Able to work independently and use initiative
  • Working in a Commercial Environment
