Your new company: HMP Huntercombe is a Category C men’s prison located in Nuffield, Oxfordshire. The establishment exclusively houses foreign national offenders, typically those nearing the end of their custodial sentences and awaiting deportation.
Your new role: As an Electrician, you will carry out installations, testing and commissioning of electrical systems in line with statutory regulations and industry best practice. You will complete planned maintenance, respond to CAFM-generated service requests, and ensure tasks are prioritised effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising prisoners during work and training activities.
- Completing maintenance and inspection tasks, including in confined spaces and at height.
- Managing stock levels and requesting materials as required.
- Escorting and supervising contractors under the Local Security Strategy (LSS).
- Maintaining regular radio communication in line with LSS.
- Accepting appointments as a competent/authorised person under GFSL safe systems of work.
- Driving estate vehicles and operating plant equipment (where qualified).
- Completing locking duties when required.
- Undertaking urgent/emergency tasks within agreed timescales.
- Supporting tool inventory control and maintaining security standards.
- Promoting excellent customer service and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Ensuring compliance with all Health and Safety regulations.
