Role Healthcare Assistant in Primary Care team at HMP Foston Hall, a closed women's prison in Derby with capacity 335 inmates. The role supports nursing teams in early days in custody and unscheduled care.
Working Hours: Long days: 07:30 – 20:00, Monday – Sunday on a rota basis with 1 weekend in 4. No night shifts currently, though this may be reintroduced.
Responsibilities:
- Support the registered nurse in implementing agreed plans of care in partnership with patients, following instructions and training to promote safe patient care.
- Develop and apply new skills to maintain and enhance clinical service delivery.
- Work independently within policy and procedures in a busy environment.
- Assist patients and staff in a secure environment, maintaining safety and professionalism.
Qualifications & Experience:
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care.
- A non‑judgemental, compassionate approach to care.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic IT literacy and good computer skills.
- Successful completion of an internal or external training programme is desirable.
- Experience in a hospital, community or prison setting is desirable (not essential).
