Department - Corporate Services and Facilities

Salary - £43,151- £46,387 plus Recruitment and Retention Allowance £2,500 per annum.

This is a full-time position for 37 hours per week open to flexible, compressed and part time working patterns with a minimum coverage of 30 hours Monday to Friday.

You will be part of an on-call rota typically for a week every six weeks for which you will receive an on-call allowance.

Do you want to work on an estate with incredible technical facilities where you can really make a difference supporting national security? You’ll use your knowledge and experience of building services to maintain and enhance an expanding estate with a variety of unique facilities, services and utilities for the site’s multiple buildings. You will work across our diverse and interesting campus with many technical facilities, which includes manufacturing workshops, engineering laboratories, screened room, clean rooms, server rooms and offices. The campus has a range of buildings from ones being constructed now to others around 50 years old with varying types of building infrastructure.

You’ll work in a fast-paced environment where most days will be different, and you will interact with a wide range of users and suppliers as you use your planning and delivery abilities for projects, ranging from delivering complex new facilities to statutory compliance work. You’ll be project managing multiple system replacements as well as arranging for reactive breakdown repair work to be undertaken. You will use good analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and fix issues with building systems.

You will join a small supportive team where professional development and training is available and encouraged for both technical and core skills. These courses include externally recognised CIBSE courses as well as sessions hosted in house.

More About You

To apply for this role, you’ll already have:

  • A professional qualification in building services and/or building services experience.
  • A solid understanding of building engineering and technology, such as HVAC, electrical systems and plumbing.
  • Working knowledge of building regulations, safety standards and sustainable technologies.
  • Can manage own time to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you have one or more of the following (but these are not essential):

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of working with ISO standards such as ISO 50001, ISO 14001 etc.
  • Familiarity with software applications such as AutoCAD.

Using your diverse range of skills within the estates team, you will:

  • Work collectively within the team to ensure the site is safe and legally compliant.
  • Lead on specific project work, project manage equipment replacements and enhancements from initial request to completion, working collaboratively with all members of the supply chain.
  • Respond to system and infrastructure failures to minimise the impact on site.
  • Interrogate the Building Management System to identify faults or develop enhancements.
  • Respond to user requests for repair, maintenance and infrastructure enhancements.
