Winchester College is seeking two dedicated Campus Cleaners to join our Facilities team. These pivotal part-time roles offer the opportunity to contribute to the daily cleanliness and smooth operation of our distinguished campus.
The Role
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Campus Cleaners will be responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness and event setup of all school buildings, excluding boarding houses. This includes administrative offices and some sports facilities. The team works largely unsupervised and is expected to be flexible to provide cover for absent colleagues when necessary.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- General Cleaning: Cleaning allocated areas, which may include cleaning showers and WCs, sweeping, mopping, dusting, polishing, emptying bins, and vacuuming.
- Outdoor Maintenance: Working outside, when required, to maintain the cleanliness and appearance of campus paths and associated areas.
- Window Cleaning: Periodically cleaning the insides of windows, which sometimes involves using a step ladder.
- Event Support: Assisting in the setting up of event venues such as music rooms, exam areas, day-to-day school activities and functions, as well as for school open days and events. This also includes assisting in moving and relocating items around the campus such as furniture, event kit, tables, and chairs.
- Minor Repairs & Reporting: Undertaking minor running repairs and immediately reporting any defects or safety hazards, and any accidents, however small, to the Facilities Team Leaders, Facilities Manager, or Heads of the Departments.
- Safety Checks: Participating in regular routine safety checks such as fire call point/extinguishers, emergency lighting, and water temperature of the areas you are assigned.
- Training & Development: Keeping up to date with cleaning methods and undertaking regular Health & Safety training as required.

- Commercial Cleaning Experience: Experience of commercial cleaning and COSHH knowledge.
- Driving Licence: A driving licence would be an advantage.
- School Environment: Experience of working within a school environment.
What We Offer
- Start Date: As soon as possible.
- Position A:
- 25 hours per week. Term-time plus, with a requirement to work in July and two days at the beginning and end of each month.
- The working hours are Monday – Friday, 07:00 – 12:00.
- Salary is £13,125.75 (gross) per annum. FTE is £22,222.20.
- Position B:
- 7 hours per week. Term-time only, with the expectation that Exeats are worked.
- The working hours are Saturday 08:00 – 15:00.
- Salary is £2,991.45 (gross) per annum. FTE is £22,222.20.
