ABOUT THE TEAM
The Transport team is a friendly and encouraging team responsible for managing HM Treasury’s interests in transport policy, both as a finance and economics ministry. We work closely with the Department for Transport, which has one of the biggest capital budgets in Whitehall.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for a Senior Policy Adviser to provide maternity cover for 9 months. You will lead on providing HM Treasury oversight of rail infrastructure spending – a multi-billion programme of public investment in UK transport and key departmental priority of close interest to ministers and No.10. A core part of your work will be building strong, collaborative relationships with DfT, Network Rail, NISTA, the Office for Road and Rail, and with other teams across the Treasury.
Key accountabilities:
- Lead HM Treasury oversight of rail infrastructure spending and the relationship with DfT, Network Rail and the Office For Road and Rail.
- Manage spending approvals for new rail infrastructure.
- Manage a Senior Executive Officer, with opportunities to supervise and guide the work of those within the wider team.
You’ll be joining us at an exciting time following the Spending Review, which will help to shape policy on rail infrastructure investment in the coming years.
