This is a unique opportunity for an Architect to work within HMRC at a time of significant change and transformation as it drives the focus of IT delivery away from point solutions and exploits the opportunities that cloud technologies can provide. This outstanding opportunity is for an experienced Architect to work within the Architecture function of HMRC, part of the Chief Digital & Information Officer (CDIO) Group to be a part of the Architecture Office deeper team.
This is a senior leadership role that will provide opportunities to bring together, develop and lead teams of professionals to promote consistent architecture across a multi-billion-pound portfolio of business transformation projects, including cross-government projects. Our CD.#AO life are responsible for:
- Strategic impacting of Enterprise Level Change in HMRC that impacts CDIO’s accountabilities to enable decision making in alignment with the IT strategy.
- Producing briefings for Tech keyholder on all change in the end-to-end lifecycle through strong collaboration with Solution, Enterprise and Chief Architects.
- Maintaining a repository of the impacts moving forward to enable more proactive impacting of change.
This is a key role in the Chief Technology & Design Office area of CDIO and an exciting opportunity at a critical time as the Department moves to deliver its commitments agreed with Government in the next spending round. You will be part of a team including Solution and Enterprise Architects and Business Analysts to ensure that changes are impacted against the Strategy and Roadmaps.
You will take responsibility for tasks and deliver products to deadlines, removing blockers and driving collaboration across a wide-ranging landscape including architecture, business, finance, commercial and Change Group stakeholders. Facilitating senior level understanding of the impact of changes which will decide where further activity is required to ensure that any Cross-cutting elements or activities that will impact Strategy are understood.
This is an exciting opportunity suited to someone who is proactive and thrives on working to tight timescales with changing priorities. As a team member you will be accountable for IT impacting to ensure enterprise level business and IT change in HMRC is impacted strategically, consistently and in a data driven way.
Working at a strategic level you will engage with a host of business and IT stakeholders and key partners, influencing policy, and set directions for technology and business change in line with HMRC 'Digital by Default' strategy. You will champion the adoption of latest technologies, whilst transforming HMRC’s large IT estate towards a smaller number of strategic platforms.
In this role, you will:
- Act as a trusted ambassador for CDIO striving to make us a trusted IT partner.
- Ensure your team delivers strategic outcomes through others and be accountable for the efficient production of briefings, early solution, policy, and fiscal events.
- Collaborate with our Planning team and liaise with internal and external partners to maintain the IT Strategy plan.
You will need to demonstrate within your application the following essential criteria:
- A broad IT and Enterprise Architecture (EA) background, with experience in architecture enterprise scale IT.
- Experience of driving, delivering, and assuring technological change against the background of organisational transformation.
- Experience of engaging at a strategic level and playing a key role in setting organisational objectives.
- Demonstrable experience in developing Technical Capability within an organisation.
- Stakeholder Management - The ability to simplify complex and technical information for non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work under broad direction in challenging and unpredictable environments.
